#Powerwives is a bi-monthly column where we feature women who inspire us. Marital status is completely irrelevant. The title is inspired by our founders November 2013 Toronto Life cover story. This week’s #powerwife is Taylor Kaye.

Who is in your tribe? (family members, friends, partners) My tribe is like my own personal entourage! My hubby Greg and my 3 little girls aka the #specialkayes and my extended family – brothers, uncles, aunts and cousins…you name it! Family is everything to me.
What does a typical day look like for you? There is no typical day for me! I can tell you that I’m up at 6 :30 am and go to bed around midnight or 1am. I do TV, Radio and Voice work and kids activities within those hours. Who needs sleep!?
What’s in your clutch? Clutch! What’s that? I have a mega purse still until the kids get older. I have diapers, lipgloss, smartphone, Samsung tablet, soother, candy or mints and wipes for the kids in my purse! Oh and power cord to charge my phone or tablet.
Five things you can’t live without? My hubby, my special kayes, my voice studio, my mom and chocolate!
Who is your hero? My mom.
What are you reading? Right now I’m reading Dora the Explorer and anything Disney has put out about Frozen!
How did you get your start? I have a Kinesiology degree from McMaster. I started out at their college station 93.3 CFMU. I’ve worked everything from promotions to on air!
Tell us about a time you were challenged and you learned a lesson. I’m challenged daily with my career, family and life in general. The one main life lesson I have learned is just to be nice to people. Period! This is so true. Be nice to people on your way up. You’ll meet ‘em on your way down. Some of my interns are now hiring me for voice work!
What inspires you? My kids. It’s true you do learn so much from children. I learned watching Dora the Explorer with the girls that Corona in Spanish means crown. All this time I thought it meant beer! Thank you Dora and thank you special kayes!
What are you excited about right now? I’m excited for what’s next for TV and Radio and online broadcasting. It’s an exciting time now for media.
How do you unwind? Sleep.
Most interesting people to follow on social media? Friends, family, celebs. I creep you all! Everyone does it! At least I admit it!
Personal mantra: Two things define you. Your patience when you have nothing and your attitude when you have everything.
Advice for women trying to get to where you are: Volunteer and try everything, shadow whoever you can and take it all in. Keep moving forward!
