Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was any great event. This Friday, June 6, SummerWorks Performance Festival is announcing their lineup at a Launch Party that will blow your mind, taste buds and art loving side. And all without totally breaking the bank.
Whether you’re into trying something new or want to stick with what you know, there’s something for everyone at this Friday’s art party and auction. Here are a few highlights:
1. BBQ
Event food by Fidel Gasto and Sweet Sammies Canada
It’s safe to say summer is here. What compliments hot weather and a cold bevy better than some barbecue and ice cream? Food truck favourite Fidel Gastro’s has the market cornered with their barbecue creations. Meanwhile, Sweet Sammies brings a new twist to an old favourite with delicious handcrafted ice cream.
2. Dine, don’t dash
The Food Dudes private dinner party with SummerWork’s Artistic Producer, Michael Rubenfeld.
As our #fatties posts suggest, we are suckers when it comes to good food. That’s why when The Food Dudes donated a private dinner party for six to the live auction, it was hard to contain our excitement (not to mention our watering mouths). One of the winner’s dinner guests will include SummerWorks’ artistic producer, Michael Rubenfeld.
3. Night on the town
The Royal Alexandra Theatre is celebrating its 100th anniversary and if you haven’t had the chance to see this historic theatre house, Friday is your chance to get an amazing deal on some shows playing in it. Mirvish Productions created a package of tickets to “Arcadia,” “Our Country’s Good” and “The Heart of Robin Hood” that is sure to entertain.
4. Breath deep and relax
Body Blitz water passes + Intro to suspension yoga
This would fall under the “treat yo’self” category. Summer is a busy time in Toronto, so for those constantly on the go a morning stretch in a yoga class followed by an afternoon in therapeutic waters is just what the doctor ordered.
5. Entertainment
Live performance by Patrick J. Adams
Spotting this “Suits” star is the Toronto equivalent of spotting Woody Allen in New York City. We thought we’d make this a little easier for you by having him at the Launch Party. He’s performing a special reading from a new play by Ukranian playwright Natalya Vorozhbit.
It doesn’t end there folks. What fun would it be if we didn’t leave some things to the imagination? This is only a sample of the great performances and items we have up for auction. Before signing off we want to thank all the generous donors and participants:
