Synopsis
In the middle of the nineteenth century, when famine, poverty and arbitrary rule oppressed the people, several hundred thousand Germans emigrated to faraway South America. “One finds something better than death everywhere” was both their bitter awareness and hope. It is against this dramatic background that Edgar Reitz’s latest feature film, HOME FROM HOME, unfolds: the story of two brothers from a village in the Hünsruck region in western Germany, who realize only their dreams can save them.
