Pen pals is a column where our friends in the media write us a letter and fill in some blanks. Today’s pen pal is Amy Seidman, she writes about film and conducts interviews for Fangoria, Shock Till You Drop and Thrillist.
In the beginning I wanted to be Annie Oakley. But then I realized it is way better to be me.
If I had to choose between Baskin and Baskin Robbins, I’d choose Baskin, hands down!!!!
My favourite thing about my job is the fact that I get to talk to the people I admire, watch the films I adore and use my imagination to make the perfect amalgam of that into horror journalism. But sometimes it can get a little bit monotonous doing the only aspect that is less than thrilling….the transcribing!!!!
My best work habit is tireless, obsessive amounts of research. When I need to cool down I play bunny bowling in my apartment.
Print is still my favourite. I love opening a new magazine and smelling the fresh ink (everybody does this right???right?!). Social media is an incredible platform if you know how to utilize it to it’s full potential.
At night I dream about going on a date to an exorcism with a guy with a multicoloured pointy knitted hat that trailed along the floor like a wedding dress train. We held hands.
Right now I’m loving Last Podcast OnThe Left, Air-Conditioning, my new Chuck Taylors.
I’m currently binge-watching Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace on Youtube.
My favourite soccer position is in the stands yelling and drinking beer. Korean TV Dramas are my guilty pleasure. My biggest accomplishment is I am still here, bigger and better every day!
PR professionals make me wonder what we did before we had PR professionals. I wish they would take a day off, you guys make the rest of us look lazy!
My email pet-peeves are Chain Letters. Seriously. I still get sent these. The best advice I ever received is never stop reading, never stop writing and write from experience. That is from Kerry Ehrin one of the Creators of Bates Motel. In the future there will be popcorn chicken burritos (one can dream right?!).
Before I go, I want you to know that there have been no advancements in the design flaws of umbrellas since their inception and this keeps me up at night.
Take care, brush your hair,
Love
