December 18, 2014, TORONTO – Abstract artist Gloria Green makes her debut appearance at The Artist Project this February. Green works primarily with acrylic and large canvases. Her colourful, uplifting works have been seen in a variety of venues throughout Toronto over the past decade.
Dedicated health care worker by day and artist by night, Green’s work is the result of a desire to find a tangible expression for the stories of hope and courage she sees in her work as a clinical dietitian in the Pediatric Oncology Unit at SickKids in downtown Toronto
Citing artists like Franz Kline and Rothko as principle interests, Green studied abstract painting under Lydia Panart at The Avenue Road School of Art. In addition to her workplace influences, Green draws on her love of music for her creations. Wide variation is evident between each piece or series. “Art is everywhere, in the music I listen to and the people I work with. I draw inspiration from it all,” notes Green.
2015 represents Green’s first appearance at The Artist Project, one of Toronto’s most celebrated contemporary art fairs featuring more than 250 top artists from Canada and abroad. This is the eighth annual exhibition and takes place at the Better Living Centre, Exhibition place. Visitors, interior designers, gallery dealers and the public are welcome to interact and buy artwork from artists directly.
