Canadian independent publisher tops industry leaders
November 26, 2015 TORONTO – YummyMummyClub.ca (YMC), a leading online magazine for moms, won four awards at the 2015 Canadian Online Publishing Awards (COPA), hosted by Masthead on November 19. The site took home three gold and one silver award, including the Reader’s Digest Best of Canada ‘Independent Publisher of the Year’, presented to companies with less than 20 full-time staff.
YMC dominated the ‘Best Online Campaign’ category by taking home gold and silver awards for their Dove and Elmer’s Freestyle branded content and social media campaigns, respectively.
“We’re thrilled to be recognized by COPA,” says YMC founder Erica Ehm. “It shows that, with the right team of talented, dedicated bloggers and influencers, you can level the playing field and stand your own against publishing’s big players.”
At the awards ceremony in Toronto’s Phoenix Concert Theatre, YMC was also given the award for ‘Best Use of Social Media’, acknowledging the company as a leader in connecting and engaging readers through social media. Its network reaches over 500,000 Canadians through its various social media channels.
Through its agency YMC Works, YMC collaborates with companies and marketers to produce inventive branded and customized content for the Canadian mom.
“Branded content is still in its infancy,” says Ehm. “I believe it’s where marketers will put more and more attention because it’s where their message resonates most authentically with consumers.”
