If you have lactose problems, we feel bad for you son
Fatties, we were browsing the web today to narrow down this week’s topic when we stumbled upon this beautiful, gooey, creamy looking photo of a grilled cheese sandwich. And it hit us, what about the poor unfortunate souls who can’t eat dairy or know the joys of grilled cheese, creamy desserts and all the other glories dairy bring us?
If you have lactose problems, we feel bad for you son (yes, we just borrowed that from Jay-Z). Here’s our roundup of lactose unfriendly nonoms in Toronto, aka great vegan options:
Hogtown Vegan (834 Bloor St W)
All the poutine, none of the pain. They use something called Daiya Cheese. It has the same texture as real cheese and great flavour. And no, there’s no witchcraft involved. Appearances can be deceiving, give it a try.
Cut The Cheese (2901A Dundas St W)
We love clean, healthy food experiences. But for the days where you want something comforting and dirtily delicious, Cut The Cheese will make you fall in love. Daiya Cheese strikes again at this place and thank goodness for it. Try The Cartel, a grilled cheese with guacamole, corn, roasted chicken and banana peppers.
Kupfert & Kim (100 King St W)
We may as well include a vegan dessert option. These guys offer healthy meals and treats. Good chance this place will make you think of vegan as something other than rabbit food, everything we’ve tried is surprisingly tasty. Back to dessert, try the chocolate macaroon. Chocolate goodness, no dairy required.
Since we behaved so well this week with our vegan options and healthy vibes, next week… Well, you’ll have to wait and see.
