Elevate Toronto celebrates tech innovation, disruption and diverse talent this September
This morning, atop Toronto’s CN Tower, ClutchPR was asked to join Toronto’s best and brightest in the tech and startup innovation field for the official launch of Elevate Toronto
Elevate Toronto is a “three-day tech festival that will showcase the best of the Canadian innovation ecosystem and welcome the world to our city.” Happening this September 12-14, Elevate will celebrate tech diversity, innovation and disruption, with big plans to attract global talent to the festival, bolstering the event as a household name in the tech and startup communities both inside and outside the borders of the city.
Former Achievers CEO Razor Suleman welcomed the crowd, vocalizing his commitment to recruiting a diverse pool of talent for Elevate Toronto, citing gender and race diversity as a top priority. Shortly after, he welcomed AceTech Ontario CEO and #MoveTheDial founder Jodi Kovitz to the stage where she emphasized the importance of providing a stage to highlight all of the city’s diverse talents and accomplishments.
The gathering included key players in Toronto’s startup and corporate innovation communities along with closing remarks from Mayor John Tory who stated “we don’t have an event that celebrates tech and our great accomplishments. We’re the financial and innovation capital of Canada…we have to bring people here to see it.” Similarly to how global communities associate the best in film with TIFF, Tory envisions a future where the same will be said in regards to Elevate Toronto and the best in tech innovation.
Disruption was also a hot topic of discussion, with both Suleman and Tory citing the importance of collaboration between the established financial and industrial sectors of Toronto with the disruptive minds that drive the tech and startup space. Elevate Toronto invites the city to “disrupt together” believing the key to an elevated city is to work with disruptors, not against them.
The three-day festival launches with Elevate Diversity day, a 3,000 person all day event held at the Sony Centre featuring TED-style talks by industry leaders and disruptive thinkers. Day two is broken up into multiple technology themes including Elevate Health, Elevate AI and more where tech leaders will attend to showcase Toronto’s thriving innovation ecosystem across sectors. Elevate Toronto will culminate on day three with NewCo festival, where over 30 companies will open their doors to showcase their work and work spaces, followed by the Spotlight Awards, a celebration of success in Toronto’s tech and innovation community.
