Each month, we feature an artist who caught our attention. They could be in theatre, film, music or visual art. The point is we think they’re kick ass and you should know who they are.
November’s artist is Jack Jackson, the bow tie impresario behind Alljackedup and the #TiesToLove campaign, which encourages people to take selfies wearing bow ties to help raise awareness for issues facing the trans community. This year for Transgender Day of Remembrance, Jack created a Trans Heroes bow tie featuring the names of transgender role models past and present, including Laverne Cox, Andreja Pejic, Buck Angel and many more.

5 things you can’t live without:
My dog, working out, Toronto, passion and my camera.
What’s the best show you’ve seen recently?
Ok, it’s not that recent, but this show absolutely blew me away: The (Un) heeled fashion show in Brooklyn, NY, December 2014, organized by DapperQ.
What are your plans for 2016?
I’m working towards organizing a queer fashion show in Toronto in conjunction with Peau Du Loup and DapperQ.
Most memorable moment of your career thus far?
Being featured in the 100 most stylish DapperQ’s 2015 and having my new line of self ties on the runway at La Garçonne Gala fashion show in San Francisco this June.
What would you be doing if you weren’t doing this?
I wouldn’t. This has been a life long dream, and finally I’m in a city where I can make it happen.
What advice do you have for people who want to get to where you are?
Be yourself. Believe in yourself, but don’t be by yourself.
Industry shout out – who does it go to?
We are so often underrepresented, that I’m going to take the liberty of shouting out two: Sir New York and Sharpe Suiting.
