Happy Monday nail art lovers! This Mani Monday we had an adventure painting our nails. Ombré may look difficult but it’s surprisingly easy to accomplish.
It’s as simple as these three steps:
1. Paint on your base colour and let it dry fully.
2. Smear a few drops of your ombré colour onto a flat surface. Dab a sponge into it then gently dab at your nail. For this angled ombré we started in the top corner of a nail and worked our way in. Try to use a lighter hand the closer to the middle of your nail you get. Do the entire hand then go back and just touch the sponge down a few more times on your corners to ensure the colour is solidly opaque there.
As a general rule, ensure 1/4 – 1/3 of your nail remains clean.
3. Let it dry fully, apply a good top coat and clean off your skin.
In terms of colour combos for this fun #manimonday adventure you can get as playful as you want. Contrasting colours will create a sharp, obvious ombré. White is always a great base to make the ombré pop. Dark shades ombréd atop one another create an interesting, subtle, multidimensional feel to nails that’s only noticable if you look really closely. And of course if you have loose glitter you can sprinke some of that on immediately after doing the ombré coat.
Just pick two colours you like together and have at it. And don’t be afraid to ombré from strange parts of your nail like we did with these corners.
