Happy Thursday, #Fatties. Today we’re talking to you about something we’re really looking forward to eating tonight: great after work snacks. Specifically, the best spots to find them in Toronto.
After all, what’s better when you’ve got to work during summer in the city than to grab some post work drinks and goodies with friends, or colleagues you like as humans. Our #prlife means we usually work late enough that we’d get real drunk rather fast if we didn’t eat a little something with our cocktails.
Try not to drool on your laptop. Our favourite Toronto snack bars to hit up after work are:
1. 416 snack bar (181 Bathurst St)
We’re biased because these guys are about 45 seconds from our office. That said, they’re not in our good graces without reason. Reasonable prices for food and drink with snacks that you won’t want to share (though they’re perfect for just that) mean this little snack bar is packed. No joke. It’s packed pretty much from when they open to when they close in the wee hours. Don’t worry, there’s no shortage of good, speedy service. It just means you’ll have to find a seat on the window sill some days.
2. Rush Lane & Co. (563 Queen St W)
The laziness continues. We haven’t tried Rush Lane as it’s just now being born into the food world, but it’s just across Queen St W from us and looks pretty promising. Added bonus, we love smart names. Try and figure out the inspiration for this bar’s name.
3. Communist’s Daughter (1149 Dundas St W)
Hole in the wall. Hidden gem. Cool vibe. Don’t forget your cash.
4. Food & Liquor (1610 Queen St W)
With its cool back patio that’ll transport you to another time and place, this place is special. Don’t let its simple name mislead you, this spot’s got a collection of delicious snacks made with a smart spin. Want pulled pork? It comes with a creamy soft boiled duck egg on top instead of sopping bbq sauce. If you’re near Parkdale, grab a snack and a spiked lemonade. You’re going to feel like you’re chilling at a friend’s. And that friend has kidnapped someone who knows how to cool very good nom noms.
5. The Beverley Hotel (335 Queen St W)
For the days when you wear silk to work, we’ve got your upscale spot. The Bev offers all the swag of a luxe spot, but the amazing drink and snack menu of a place who knows what’s up. Not stuffy, just lovely. Try the Bird on a Wire. You will not regret it.
Don’t you forget how we take care of you, Fatties. We know you like your drinks too. Almost all these spots are open really late and double as great late night eats with guzzle worthy signature cocktails and beers. Snack on, Fatties, snack on.
